New Objective: Find the Golden Pyramid!

When going on an expedition you are always following a main objective. This will highly depend on the expedition type. For example in the Golden Pyramid expedition, you have to find the golden pyramid while in the Rainbow Orchid you have to get an orchid and bring it back to the ship. This objective is displayed on the bottom right of the screen.

You can also have more than one objective, for example when you are accepting a quest. You then have a side objective as well. Some expedition leaders also have side objectives, like mapping the island for the cartographer.

Main Objective

Find the golden pyramid is the main objective. Map the island is a side objective of the cartographer.

The main objective is the one displayed in yellow. It is the only one that can be linked to the compass or the gimbal. Accomplishing this objective will be the end of the expedition or lead to a new main objective.

Sometimes you can also click on the objective to focus the camera on where the objective is located.

When passing with your mouse over an objective you'll get more information like in-between steps.

Side Objectives

Find the stolen relic is a quest from the village.

Side objectives are displayed over the main objective and don't need to be fulfilled in order to finish the expedition. But they can be very rewarding.

Side objectives can be:

The Golden Compass and Gimbal

The Golden Compass

Here the trek is close to the pyramid and the compass is pointing directly towards it.

The compass is an instrument that shows you the average direction of the objective. At the beginning of the expedition, it will be rotating a lot and therefore not be very helpful in giving a direction. But the more you uncover the island the more precise the compass will get. And therefore the direction will become clearer and clearer the more you uncover.

The Gimbal

The gimbal is spinning faster when you are nearer to the objective.
When you put your mouse over the objective it also indicated if you are close or far away from the objective.

The gimbal is not indicating a direction but gives feedback about how far away the trek is from the objective. It will spin faster if you come close to the objective and spin slower or not spin at all if you are really far away.

Magnetic Mountains

The compass gets a blue highlight and a particle effect when being affected by a magnetic mountain.

Magnetic mountains can be really disturbing. They affect the compass and the gimbal when you pass near them and make the instruments point towards them. But they are very recognizable and you have to ignore the compass and gimbal information while being near them.
