The islands are often filled with dangerous hazards. You might get into a sand storm, have to walk through needle plants, or pass next to a geyser at the right moment.

Roaming Fog[edit]

The strange purple fog is expanding on the island and you can move hardly through it as you can't see very far. The move costs will increase drastically if you move from the fog. You can see the Roaming Fog for example in the Prologue.

Giant Wasps[edit]

When walking into a zone of giant wasps, one of your characters will get bitten and lose a lot of health.

Mosquitos[edit]

You can encounter these Desert Storms on Drylands islands. If you enter it, it will blow you several tiles away in a random direction.

Needle Plants[edit]

Needles Plants sleep underground until you wake them up by walking over them. When you want to walk over the Needle Plant tiles again your characters will scratch themselves on the needles and lose some health.

Magma Spouts[edit]

Magma Spouts will create lava rivers. These lava rivers will become lava crusts on some tiles so that you can walk over them.

Fumaroles[edit]

Fumaroles will periodically produce toxic clouds that last for around 20 days. Your characters will lose health when moving through it.

Geysers[edit]

The Geysers can be sleeping or active. When it is sleeping you can pass next to it without any problem. But from time to time the Geyser will flood the tiles around it. So if you are next to the Geyser at the wrong moment, the currents will take you away and you will appear again on a tile far away.
