The Pale Mask tribe comes from another dimension and takes over local tribes. It can happen that you find local villages and huts destroyed and corrupted by the Pale Mask. When you find them on an island you can be sure to find a portal leading to their [[Corrupted Islands|corrupted island]].

= Pale Mask Tribe =

The Pale Mask tribe people will appear polite but you know they killed the locals of the island they took over. From time to time they will try to turn one of your trek members into a Pale Mask member by giving you a fog infection.

= Fog Infection =

Your trek members can get fog infected in multiple ways when interacting with Pale Mask people. This hasn't any bad impact on the character except that they will turn into a Pale Mask member after some time.
And when you have a trek member that became a Pale Mask they will leave you for the Pale Mask tribe after some more time.
You can use its new abilities but should cure them as fast as you can if you don't want them to leave your trek.

You can turn a Pale Mask trek member back to normal, but it is a difficult quest.

You have to:
# Steal the Pale Mask's Mask at the Ruler Hut
# Go through the portal to the corrupted island
# Go to a Pale Mask shrine
# Place the Mask on the altar
# And the trek member will be cured

+The above steps also work for a recruited Pale Mask trek member and will trigger the [[It's Not Too Late]] achievement. However, the trek member will morph to another Pale Mask, having a new name and a fresh 150 days countdown.
