The Director Mode is a different game mode that has been added with the first free DLC [[1.1.0]]. It is less story-focused than [[Campaign]] Mode and provides more replayability.

Narratively this mode takes place after the original campaign, starting in 1890. You take over as the Director of the Exposition as you explore islands containing greater dangers than you've ever faced before. For each year you complete, you have to choose and add a new negative modifier to your trek, making the expeditions even more challenging. The end goal is to collect all the different Director Modifiers, and then complete one final year with them.

This game mode is also about getting the most fame. You can keep track of your scores in the [[Hall of Fame]].
